Helping you to find your inner peace
Welcome, and thank you for visiting. I am a Counselling Psychologist based in Somerset, convenient to Milverton and Taunton, providing therapy in-person and online.
Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. The role of a psychologist is to provide space and guidance to help you on your journey of self-discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it.
Dr. Zing is an HCPC registered counselling psychologist with over twenty years’ experience in providing the highest quality psychological therapy to those with a wide range of challenges. Having trained within the NHS she has worked with a diverse range of clients, from all walks of life.
Dr. Zing studied at the University West of England where she earned her degree in counselling psychology, specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology in 2004, graduating with honours. She then went on to obtain a Msc in forensic psychology, while in 2019 she went onto to gain a further post graduate degree. In her spare time Dr. Zing likes walks in the countryside, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
As a counselling psychologist Dr. Zing prioritises the value of the therapeutic relationship, consistently offering a warm, empathic and non-judgmental space, where each client can feel heard, respected and valued.
She will work closely with you to help you understand your challenges, so that lasting and meaningful change can be had. Within this therapy space you will have an opportunity to deeply reflect on your life journey and consider what has led to your current circumstance, all done in a person-centred and healing way.
Dr. Zing prioritises both your past and present circumstances and believes that each stage of your life has something important to teach you. You will be guided by her on your road to self-discovery. However, the use of self-reflection is just the start, you will be provided with useful psychological tools to help you move forward and overcome any challenges, leading to lasting change and inner peace.

Counselling and psychotherapy are both types of "talking therapy" aimed at helping individuals with various personal issues. However, they differ in their focus, duration, and depth of exploration. Counselling often addresses immediate issues and problems, while psychotherapy explores deeper patterns and underlying psychological issues, such as unconscious motivations and drives.
This depends on the nature and complexity of the challenges you face. While I offer long term and open-ended work, which can last anywhere from six months to 2-5 yrs, short-term work usually lasts around three months and can, in some instances be as short as several weeks. I will ensure to regularly check in with you and your progress, so we can make informed decisions about your therapy journey.
My aim is to offer you a first appointment, known as an assessment session within 1-2 weeks. However, waiting times will vary according to pressure on our resources, your own availability and the service you seek.
What you say in therapy is confidential. Therapists are ethically and legally obligated to maintain confidentiality, meaning they are generally not allowed to share your information with others without your consent. However, there are some exceptions to this rule, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or when legally required to disclose information. Furthermore, I will only share what is strictly necessary and will always try to inform you first before sharing information about you, unless this is considered unsafe to do so.
This is not advisable, this is because your friend or relative may not fully realise the extent to which you are struggling, which may come as a shock for those close to you. If you bring a friend/relative with you, you may feel obligated to protect their feelings or not to be as fully open as you would have been, if they were not there.
